USS Harpers Ferry (LSD 49)

MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. – The 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit and the amphibious dock landing ship USS Harpers Ferry (LSD 49) completed Quarterly Underway Amphibious Readiness Training 25.3 at Camp Pendleton, California, and in its coastal waters May 28 to June 6, 2025.

SAN DIEGO – Amphibious dock landing ship USS Harpers Ferry (LSD 49) returned to homeport in San Diego, following a seven-month deployment in the U.S. 7th and 3rd Fleet areas of operations with embarked elements of the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), Oct. 18, 2024.

SAN DIEGO — The Boxer Amphibious Ready Group and 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit successfully completed at-sea integrated training exercises, Jan. 18.

USS Harpers Ferry (LSD 49) held a change of command ceremony in the ship’s well deck onboard Naval Base San Diego, April 7.

Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Preble (DDG 88) held a change of command ceremony on Preble Field at Liberty Station as Cmdr. John Baggett turned over the role of commanding officer to Cmdr. Peter Lesaca, Oct. 29.

NAVAL AMPHIBIOUS BASE CORONADO – Recent revisions to the Surface Force Training and Readiness Manual (SFTRM) now permit ships’ crews to certify early when they demonstrate full proficiency during Certification Events (CEs). Three surface ships have satisfied certification requirements under these changes, which increases commanding officer’s (COs) discretionary crew training time. The changes also underscore the determined effort to foster a culture of excellence in the surface force.
