Meet your OMBUDSMAN

Hello Carrier Strike Group 11 Families!

I am your newly appointed Command Ombudsman, Melissa McGill. An Ombudsman is a volunteer position designated by the command to serve as a communication link between the Commanding Officer and command family members, as well as your go-to person for information and referrals. I am available, whether your Sailor is here or away, and can send and receive communications between the Admiral, Chief of Staff, Command Master Chief, and our families.

I am happy to support you and provide information on the Navy family resources available to you. I am also required to follow the guidelines of confidentiality as required by the Navy Family Ombudsman Program.

One of my essential responsibilities to CCSG-11 and our families is to maintain good contact information for our families, particularly when the command is deployed. This enables me to act as disaster coordinator in the event of an emergency and work with the command to ensure everyone is accounted for.

My husband, Jimmy, and I have been married for 16 years, while he has been active duty. In addition to being a Navy Family Ombudsman, I am also part of the Command Spouse Team (CST). Additionally, I am a Military Wife Coach, an Author, a mentor for Major Commanders and Command Master Chiefs’ spouses at the Navy Leadership and Ethics Center (NLEC) in Rhode Island, a Navy Service Familyline Steering Committee Representative, an American Corporate Partners (ACP) Veteran and Military Spouse mentor, and a Military Spouse Advocacy Network (MSAN) mentor. Jimmy and I have 4 children who are now adults. I have made many moves and been through 15 deployments.

I am sincerely looking forward to providing support that you might need during your time at the command. You may contact me by phone or e-mail at the contact information included below. I check both periodically throughout the day. Please let me know how I can be of assistance, and I look forward to meeting you!
