Mission: To increase the lethality and tactical proficiency of the surface force across all domains. SMWDC achieves tactical excellence by design through the following lines of operation (LOO): Warfare tactics instructor (WTI) production, advanced tactical training, doctrine and tactical guidance development, operational support, and capability assessments, experimentation, and requirements support.
 

• We Build Lethality: Through the development of the Surface Warfare Combat Training Continuum (SWCTC) we will improve individual tactical competency to drive Surface Force warfighting excellence.
• We Generate Combat Readiness: Through Unit Level Advanced Tactical Training we will prepare the Surface Force to conduct high-end combat operations against near peer adversaries. Additionally, we will provide direct reach-back and fly-away support, as requested, to operational commanders.
• We Foster Tactical Innovation: Through creative, critical, and bold thinking, we will develop the Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTP)and through the Surface Requirements Group (SURFRG) recommend material solutions to overcome the toughest challenges.
